Equal Opportunities Policy
Activeplay Nursery & Preschool provides equal opportunities and is committed to the principle of equality regardless of race, creed, colour, religious or political affiliation, nationality, gender, sexual orientation or disability. No child will be treated less fairly than another, and our recruitment practices, which are regularly reviewed, will be fair, equitable and consistent with the skills and abilities of our employees and the needs of the organisation.
We will not perpetuate or condone any discriminatory act or attitude in the conduct of our business with regard both to the public or our employees, and acts of racial, sexual or other discrimination are disciplinary offences which can lead to termination of contract of employment for a staff member.
If a child is observed discriminating against another child or making discriminatory or insulting comments, this will always be brought to the attention of the parents or carers. We ask for the co-operation of all parents in making this an inclusive and respectful nursery.
Children in our care will be encouraged to value others and to develop a positive outlook towards people in society who they may see as different to themselves. We will provide experiences, materials, toys and equipment which will encourage this. These will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that a good balance of resources is available to all children.
Any child with a disability or special educational need will be included, valued and supported within the nursery and we will work with parents and any outside agency to make sure that we can make reasonable adjustments to our environment and planning to safely accommodate all children.
